G20 Labour Ministers Meeting with Social Partners

On July 18, 2013 the joint meeting of the G20 Labour Ministers' Meeting and the social partners entitled "Social dialogue on labour and employment priorities for job creation" will be held in Moscow. The representatives of business community and labour unions will share with the G20 Labour Ministers their vision of the priorities for employment and labour market development policies.

Discussion will be focused on two major topics, namely, the role of trade unions and entrepreneurs in promoting economic growth, and creating quality jobs, including in small and medium enterprises. Within the above larger topics different viewpoints will be presented on such issues, as reform strategies for growth and jobs, creating enabling environment for enterprises and entrepreneurship, improving employment versus fiscal consolidation. The delegates will consider possible further steps aimed at increasing employability, reducing inequality and tackling informal employment, addressing demographic challenges, as well as enabling efficient labour activation policies, enhancing social protection and ensuring implementation of the G20 commitments.

G20 Labour Ministers Meeting

On July 18-19, 2013 the G20 Labour Ministers Meeting will be held in Moscow. The ministerial meeting will be preceded by the G20 Labour Ministers Meeting with Social Partners, during which the representatives of business community and labour unions will share their vision of the priorities for employment and labour market development policies.

The agenda of the G20 Labour Ministers Meeting entitled "Job Creation for Life and Development" will be focused on the issues of job creation, labour activation, equality and social inclusion. Ministers will discuss possible ways to formulate and implement integrated employment policy mixes aimed at addressing simultaneously both the economic and the social needs of the G20 countries' population. Creating an enabling environment and elaborating special supportive policies for job creation, possible measures to strengthen labour demand, the role of investments in human capital, targeted labour activation policies for the vulnerable groups of population, skills development programs, as well as the role of social protection in general - these are the topics that will be considered by the G20 Labour Ministers, among others.

The Ministers will also measure the progress made by the G20 countries in implementing the employment agenda set by the Leaders and take notice of the role of the social partners and international organizations in this process.

The main outcomes of the meeting will be reflected in the G20 Labour Ministers' Declaration.
