Russian Federation launched the realization of the ILO's Future of Work Centenary initiative

On November 21-22, 2016 the ILO Director-General Guy Ryder visited Moscow and he met the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Maxim Topilin, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

In the framework of this visit, a cooperation program between the Russian Federation and the ILO for 2017-2020 was signed on November 22, 2016.

The main priorities and directions of cooperation within this program are:

  • expansion of employment opportunities and increasing labor productivity;
  • enforcing standards in the workplace and decent working conditions;
  • cooperation in the sphere of social security and pension systems;
  • promotion of international labor standards and strengthening social dialogue.

This program pays special attention to the ILO's Future of Work Centenary initiative.

Priority issues included in the initiative are: work and society, decent jobs for all, organization of work and production, job management.

Currently, the Russian Federation as one of the key ILO member state is working on the substantive fulfillment of the initiative.

A Working Group on the implementation of the Initiative has been established and leading international and domestic experts have been invited to participate including trade unions and employers.

An Expert meeting took place in Moscow on December 12, 2016 with the participation of the Special Adviser to the ILO Director-General - Mr. Nicholas Niemtchinow. The Russian concept of this initiative was presented at the meeting.

The outcome of this work should be a recommendation of the ILO to be adopted at the anniversary session of the International Labor Conference dedicated to the centenary anniversary of the ILO in June 2019.
